Aria

I took Aria's original picture and turned it B & W. I figured that though the colors were great, the picture as a whole may turn out way too orange, and it would've probably made her look sickly.

 

I started by lightly tracing the generals, then slowly added detail into it.

 

 Halfway through drawing, I realized her eyes were too beautiful to be in black and white, so....I decided to have only color in her eyes, and have the rest be black and white.

And here was the original finished drawing. I then went back later and filled the background completely black, to make her hair look more like the blonde hair in the picture. With the white in the background it would be easy to say that she had light brown or dark blonde hair. So yeah.

Here's one of my friend Val. The picture she gave me had alot of contrast edited in, so I got the original, unedited version from her, and drew in all the details. I then jazzed it up with bright colors; I changed the design of her shirt, boosted her hair color, and darkened her eyes from her natural bright blue to more of a hazel to make it look more edited and un-real. The medium used was colored pencil.

Drawings in Graphite

Here's the 2nd one I drew of Chelsea. I was on a serious graphite pencil kick for a few weeks last month. Regular pencil is really fun if you want to work on shading and the quality of the picture, because you don't have to worry about getting the coloring right. I didn't do a great job with resemblance, but I was mostly focusing on the shading of the hair and in the nose.

Marilyn Monroe

Morgan gave me a bunch of pictures that she wanted me to draw for her new apartment, and I started this one at 10:30 two nights ago...and finished at 2:40 in the morning =) It's my new favorite drawing so far. To make it look more like an actual painting, I drew half of the picture with oil pastels, and the other half with colored pencils. I blended the pencils with the pastel in the hair as well.

I picture-documented this drawing alot, just for fun.

I began with very pastel-type colors, very light and easy to shade on. I used a mauve colored pencil for the outlining of everything in this picture, then I blended pink into the cheeks, eyes, and shading of the nose.

 

I then filled in all the details in the face and for the background i used all oil pastel, i blended magenta with sepia brown and threw some burnt orange pastel in there as well.

Johnnie!

She's really fun to draw =) I did this one from her senior picture as a graduation present to her. It was done in colored pencil. I decided not to draw in the small branches.

This is the second one of Johnnie I just finished last week. The original picture was taken by my friend Scott; it didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped, but I like it way more than her senior picture I drew-the colors are more fun and I did better detailing on her eyes. Obviously I didn't do the same background, either. I left it white to put more focus on the colors in her eyes, hair, and in the soda can. This was done in colored pencil as well.

Since this is a zoomed up shot, I really wanted to get the eyes down...So, I started with a light layer of all the colors needed...lightly filled in a peach color around the eyes, and first drew the eyes with a tan pencil. Then I slowly went darker and added the darker shading & eyelashes with a dark brown. Just a little to the left of the pupil, I left room for the white of the glare.  I began filling in more bright red and orange strands of hair.
After alot of filling in & shading, this is her eye completely done!

Bethany

This was one of my favorite pictures EVER to draw! I finished it tonight =) Bethany is such a natural beauty! I drew this one in colored pencil.

This one was a long process for me. I began with just placing her face, hair, and eyes, in the right spot on the paper. Then I began to fill in more details. After that was done, I drew a light layer of color over the entire paper:

After that, I filled in the final details and blended all the colors I had added to her face. And, voila! All done =)
